Join us! The Robitaille Family Campaign
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Recycle Your Electronics Fundraiser!
The Robitaille Campaign, Hair Today Gone Tomorrow hosted an E-Waste Depot Fundraiser, March 24, 2012 at the Quality Inn in Orleans. The team greeted over 500 cars and filled (x5) 40 tonne recycling bins. This successful event helped raise $600 in cash donations plus the total in e-waste tonnage to be converted to cash and 100% will be donated to their goal. The various sponsors, high school volunteers, and Robitaille Campaign team is very pleased with supporting the Survivorship Centre, and in particular, the Wonders and Worries Program. Over the coming months, the team will be out in the community seeking further support. About our Campaign:
Our 10 year old son, Cedric, has inspired our family by his decision to champion a cause that so many of our family and friends in the community are touched by. As a family we have all decided to grow our hair for cancer patients, raise funds and awareness for local cancer research, services and programs. We are supporting the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, an organization dedicated to increasing cancer survivorship in our community.
Please join us and support this campaign! We are seeking 50 people or more of all ages to participate in the effort. We are calling our campaign “Hair Today – Gone Tomorrow”. To ensure that everyone has a chance to join in on the fun and support such a great cause, we are allowing participants 4 ways to join: donate hair for cancer wigs, go Full Chrome Dome (shave bald), just fundraise or have the option to participate in all 3 options.
To donate hair for cancer patients it must be a minimum of 10" braided and coloured or perm hair will be accepted. To give everyone a chance to grow their hair and collectively raise a total of $20,000, the projected timeline to cut hair is the start of the school year of September 2012.
Please join our team!

The Robatailles have chosen to support the Wonders and Worries program at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation's Cancer Survivorship Care - Maplesoft Centre set to open Fall 2011. To Learn more about programs being offered at the centre or to take part in pilots please click here.
The Wonders and Worries Program When a parent or grandparent is diagnosed with cancer the impact on children is profound. It can affect their mental health, family functioning, school performance, friendships, growth and development, and overall adjustment. Typically, children in these situations are reported to experience behavioural changes, physical complaints, anxiety, decreased use of effective coping skills, and changes in sleeping and eating patterns. Through the Wonders & Worries Program children are taught coping strategies – and given tools they can use to help understand and handle difficult situations and potential negative effects. Parents are also given the resources they need to support their family during a crisis.
